I am a huge fan of Lisa Moore, so it goes without saying, I went into this read with some bias.
It wasn’t supposed to be a summer read. I bought it and it sat there as my “read a few pages of this between short stories and novels in the current TBR pile until you can sit with it in September” and then it took hold of me around page 90 and I couldn’t put it down. It became a necessary read because the characters took hold of me. Jules, Joe, Xavier, Trinity, Florence, Mary. They all had me and I couldn’t let them go. 
This isn’t a conventional whodunnit or what happened sort of novel even though I wanted to know what happened to Xavier from page one. I became more invested in how these characters would fall into the love that was written into every sentence and fragmented scene of this novel. 
It is a journey through the lives being lived, but it also considers what came before. It is structured non-linearly and you have to truly drop yourself into their lives to feel all that needs to be felt here. 
The worst character in the novel was written with such attention, I even loved him at the end.
