With her sharp features, golden hair, and sparkling blues. And those overgrown bangs—a little wavy and out of control—that made her look like a cool grunge girl on a double spread of Vogue.

Latching onto the steak knife, I leaned forward, leveling my eyes with Brett’s as I slammed the blade an inch from his pinky finger. He jumped back in his seat, gasping.

“I will say this once, and I will say it nicely—never, ever, under any circumstances, look, touch, talk, or breathe in this woman’s direction. Am I understood?”

I watched with painstaking stillness as Junior raised his hands, wiggled those sticky fingers, and stretched them out, aiming for her ass. He neared his destination, almost rounding the curve between the cheek and those toned legs that moved with graceful skill on the piste.

“Farrow.” The strain in my own voice surprised me. Junior’s hand froze midair.

Octi whipped her head around, blinking at me, surprised. “What?”

“Good.” I slid my knife out and tossed it right into Brett Junior’s outstretched hand.

Her delicate brows crashed together. “Make me, then.”

“Impossible. I have no sense of humor.”

“It’s not a fucking film roll, Farrow. It’s going to take more than a couple hours.”

“Why do you need me to laugh, anyway?”

Because I felt something inside my chest, and I am desperate to feel it again. It marked the first time since Dad had passed. And possibly the last. But I wanted to try.

We stood chest to chest now. Not touching, but close enough to do so if she tried. Which I wanted her to. Desperately.

Dad always said—Memories are a second heart. After you’re gone, they beat inside the people you’ve left behind.

She seemed completely content avoiding me, while I was on the verge of clawing my own skin off.

Why weren’t we talking? Teasing each other? Touching each other?

She blinked fast, her face jumping from emotion to emotion, starting with confusion and ending with hope. And then she did something completely terrible. She smiled. She smiled, and I felt it everywhere in my body.

“At any rate, as I sat there, surrounded by roses and a home-cooked meal I made myself, I realized how pathetic I was. You weren’t there. What’s more, you looked so happy going away, even when I begged you to stay.”

Farrow licked her lips. “Promise not to judge?”

Much to my horror, you could set the entire world aflame and I’d hold your fucking earrings and cheer you on from the sidelines.

“Let’s take a month apart. To deal with the things we need to deal with.” I leaned over his desk, grabbed a red Sharpie, and snatched the tiny calendar he never used, circling the date a month from today. “If you love me as much as I love you, you’ll come back to me, Zachary Sun. I’ll be waiting.”

For the first time since the accident, I relinquished control.

I was soaring into the unknown without a plan, completely at the whims of Fate, and scared shitless. With only Dad’s dying words and the woman of my dreams to accompany me.

This book was a lot different from Romeo and Dallas and I loved it just as much!

It's the perfect mix of funny, emotional and hot.

However, I am not really excited for Oliver's book because as of now he's looking like a walking STD which is the most off putting thing ever. He's funny and all that but his sex escapades are kinda disgusting.💀 He makes for a good side character but not really the main love interest. He is lucky if his dick doesn't fall off.💀

This book was a lot different from Romeo and Dallas and I loved it just as much!
