It would only be fair to review this book in three parts since it was divided into three parts.

The first part was really interesting at first, coming to know a different perspective in the Community where The Giver took place. As the story progressed, it got kind of repetetive, monotonous, and boring. It was so dull that it was so hard to read. I don't know if that was what the author intended. If so, it worked.

The second part was quite interesting. The setting had sort of a Midwinter's Blood feel to it, or like one of those fan fiction stories I've read of Princess Merida from Brave getting stranded on the island where Hiccup  lived. It had that kind of feel which I greatly appreciated. But like the first part, it gradually became monotonous and boring as well, but was redeemed by Einar, and Claire's great adventure. I also feel like this would have gone better if there was an alternating perspective that were patterned alongside Alys's, Claire's and for a time that guy who was into Claire's perspective. I would have liked to see the Trademaster's perspective, but like in a really vague way that would have kept me guessing.

The last part was what redeemed the whole thing for me, and it couldn't have come at a better time. It felt like it was a bit rushed, to be honest, and I wish they should've just elaborated on this more. The fight seemed corny and I wish it didn't. I would have liked it to have been more intense. The story told me it was intense, but it was not shown so much that the reader could ultimately feel it. I also wish that it didn't end so abruptly. I would have liked to see their reunion.

4.5 I really loved this book, probably most out of all of the Giver books. I LOVED how all of the other books tied in and just all of the references from the other books. However, there was a big chunk of the book (not a specific section) that I found very boring and hard to get through. Besides that, great I would highly recommend reading this whole quartet (in order for best results) because I loved reading these,and i think that this book is great for a wide range of people.

wow wow wow. this series was honestly unlike any other. I really enjoyed the characters, I also liked the themes in it. I was a little nervous about starting this series because the first book is considered a classic and I don't really read a lot of classics but it honestly shocked me. the whole series did. I feel like this was an epic conclusion to the series. I loved this series & everything I learned from it. the writing was also really amazing. I found myself shocked at the writing at least more than 3 times because it just really appealed to me somehow. it made me more connected with the story and characters. but yeah, I enjoyed everything about it and am happy with the ending 💙.

I usually don't write reviews but, God, this book was so slow. And so boring... I tried to read it, for the sake of finishing the quartet, but I just couldn't finish it. It seemed to go nowhere.

           This last book didn't live up to my expectations from the other three in the series. I have had a while to process, and I think it was a fine ending. Knowing what happens to everyone involved is ok. Seeing that more people are still developing 'powers' that others don't have can give you a lot of imagination fodder. Gabriel defeating the Trademaster is a bit of a let down though, because it sets the world up to be one where bad things can be defeated, and the purpose of all the others seemed to focus on having hope even though there is evil/bad out in the world. The overrunning theme of hope is what kept me coming back, and in a few paragraphs that was lessened IMO. But I also have to remember that if I want things to happen a certain way, I should probably write a book myself. :) The writing style was consistent and I liked having an ending after wondering for so long what laid in the future for everyone.

Claire was assigned as a Birthmother when she was 12, and every Birthmother are supposed to produce three times before they're assigned as Laborers. But when Claire is about to produce her first product, something went wrong with the procedure and she was reassigned to the Fish Hatchery soon after. Claire sneaked into the Nurturing Center to find out about her son, number Thirty-Six, and she volunteered there just so she could see the baby. Claire felt deep affection towards the baby, a feeling she felt alone in the community because she never consumed the pills to suppress emotions. Later on, she found out her baby failed to thrive and was going to be released. The next day, a boy escaped the community to Elsewhere - bringing her son with him. And Claire sets off in search of her beloved son, not knowing the long and difficult journey that awaits her....

I really enjoyed this one. It was a great conclusion to the series and answered all of the questions I had from the previous books. The characters all finally come together in one story. Lowry has created a great dystopian world with really intriguing storylines. I highly recommend this series if you haven't checked it out yet!

I have mixed feelings about this book. I thought it was well written however there were also many parts where my eyes were glazing over while reading it. There was barely any action and I felt that the book could have been written in half the length, and it wasn't long to begin with. 

With this being said, it did wrap up all the questions I had throughout the first three books. I loved that it tied all of the characters together and it provided a wonderful ending for the characters. I think this would have been a better series to read from first book through the fourth so as to not forget minor characters. My only sadness was the storyline with Matty as he was my favorite character. I would have loved to see him in this book as well.
