Lorraine Hansberry's copy of the typescript for the groundbreaking play which made its debut on Broadway in 1959. With Hansberry's ownership signature on title page, "Lorraine's copy", and notes and corrections throughout. The title Raisin in the sun comes from Langston Hughes' poem "Harlem" (later "A dream deferred"), which appears in full on the second leaf.
