After this re-read I've decided to change my rating to 5 STARS. I recently finished the sequel Rainy Day Friends and decided to go back and reread this book. I felt I enjoyed it more the second time around. I loved the humor, the tears, the characters - heck even the dog and cat are well written. I love Tink. Anyway, here is more wisdom from teenager Tilly's Journal which heads up each chapter:

"Sometimes my life feels like a test I didn't study for"
"I've learned that you can't make everyone happy, you're not a bowl of ice cream"
"No matter how much you eat, there's always room for desert. Dessert doesn't go to the stomach, dessert goes to the heart"
And finally a variation of a quote from my favorite movie:
"I'm just a girl, standing in front of a salad, asking it to be a doughnut."

Huh. I learned a new term for a genre "Woman's Fiction". Which this book is labeled. Don't laugh, I realize now it's been around for ages, I just haven't been paying attention. Amy Sue Nathan defined "Woman's Fiction" as
"The driving force of women’s fiction is the motivation of the main character to get herself from point A to point B to point C, learning and changing and growing and making mistakes along the way. What makes a women’s fiction main character tick is the methods by which she learns and changes and grows and makes mistakes. Women’s fiction tackles extraordinary real life issues and emotions."
Can there be Romance? Yes, but it is not the main focus of the novel. Also, unlike "Romance" there is no guarantee of a HEA.

For a number of years now, the majority of the books I read are Lesfic and they can fall into any category from Romance to Fantasy to Mystery etc. I don't think I've heard a Lesfic book categorized as "Woman's Fiction". I guess it would be confusing? Whatever. A good book is a good book. And this book was a good one!

I think I first heard about it as a Beach Read on NPR. It follows 30 yr old Quinn, who is still grieving the death of her sister and I think is in a depression. Her life is further shaken when she gets news about herself and that she has an inheritance. She goes to a small town in No. Cal., Wildstone where she meets a unique cast of characters, including a tall, dark and handsome, Mick. This book is funny, sad, and triumphant as we watch Quinn stumble and grow and I guess you can say find herself in Wildstone. If you've read any of Robin Alexander's books, she has similar quirky characters. 

I really loved the short excerpts of "Tilly Adam's Journal" that begins each chapter. Such as "I'd give up being a bitch, but I'm not a quitter" or "There are three stages of life 1. Birth, 2. WHAT THE HELL IS THIS? 3. Death.

Anyway, I enjoyed this book and I'm looking forward to the next installment "Rainy Day Friends". Ugg, but I'll have to wait until Jun 2018.

I think every reader is going to be excited about Jill Shalvis releasing a new woman fiction book. Jill Shalvis is stepping out of her zone by creating a new series in the women fiction genre. But do not worry reader, it still has it's Jill Shalvis writing personality. 
Lost and Found Sisters will introduce a new female character that is finding their way in life. Quinn Weller has it all in her life but there is something missing. She has a dream career but she is finding it lacking somehow that she does not know if she should quit or not. While she is struggling with her career choice, she is also debating about her life choices too. She knows something is missing in her life but she does not know what. But you know life is always changing and unexpected that she gets the biggest news ever. 
She discovered that she is adopted and has a baby sister too. She moves away and heads to her birth mother town. It may be unexpected for her but everything makes sense to her now. She is finally going to discover what she is missing and who she is but it is going to be a bumpy ride since she is going to raise a teenager sister. It is no picnic whenever you are raising a child but raising a teenager is another story. It will be a long journey for both of them but together they will discover a lot about their self and each other. 
While they struggle about their self, Quinn will also meet a handsome yet heart-warming male. He is definitely a catch but it is going to take some time for Quinn to be with him. She is always caution about everything that she wants to be sure about everything else too.
Lost and Found Sisters is definitely a great woman fiction because it gives realistic issues about sister relationship in any family. Five stars.

Totally Addicted to Reading

I cannot adequately express how much I enjoyed this book. I first became aware of Jill Shalvis when I read the Heartbreaker Bay series. Since then I look forward to reading her books. Based on what I have read of her work so far, Lost and Found Sisters, which is the first book in the Wildstone series, took a different turn. The focus is not on romance, but on family, healing and forgiveness.What the story is about.Losing someone close is not a loss that one can easily move past. Quinn Weller would discover this devastating truth when she lost her sister in a car accident. Since that fateful day, her life has never been the same. She is empty on the inside and relationships have no meaning until the day she received some shocking news. News that would shake up her world and change her life in ways she never expected.The CharactersI admired Quinn for her bravery. Walking away from the life she lived for thirty years to embrace the unknown took guts. She went looking for answers and she found more than she ever imagined. She found love and forged new friendships.Change is never easy a fact that Quinn would come to realise. She struggled with the changes, but never once did she consider giving up. She is one of those characters that one cannot help but like. She is selfless, and she cares deeply for others. She also possesses a sarcastic sense of humour which when displayed placed a smile on my face.Mick Hennessey returned to Wildstone, temporarily to help his mom get her house in order. He does not intend to stay, but then he meets Quinn who has him re-thinking his decision. He is caring and always willing to help.They are attracted to each other but were afraid to explore the attraction as they were on different paths in life, which would lead to them being miles apart from each other. I liked that they moved past the fear and as a result discovered love. They were great for each other. He helped her sort out her feelings when things got complicated.I found the town of Wildstone and its inhabitants interesting. They helped make the story shine with their humorous antics and banter.The StoryLost and Found Sisters is a heartfelt story filled with humour. It combines romance with life-affirming issues. At the start of each chapter are quotes that was both funny and true. The author provided a romance that is sweet and passionate but without the steam.The inheritance was not what I expected, however; I enjoyed how this aspect of the story played out. I loved how Quinn came to terms with everything that is associated with her inheritance. She accepted both the good and the bad.Conclusion /RecommendationLost and Found Sisters is a wonderful and poignant story of love, healing, self-discovery and embracing change. This is a great start to the series and I am eager to spend more time with the inhabitants of Wildstone.

Quinn recently lost her sister Beth to a terrible car accident and is trying to keep her life together when she is rocked by more shocking information that changes everything she thought she knew about her childhood and her family. Learning she has an inheritance waiting for her in a small, dying town called Wildstone, Quinn will be forced to confront both her past and present.

A little less focused on romance than her other novels, this was still a charming and ultimately heart-warming story of family and love. I especially adored the geriatric labrador.

I was in the mood for a light book. The narrator on Overdrive had a really annoying voice. I think it would have been better to read. It wasn’t awful but I wouldn’t recommend it when there are so many amazing books out there.
