Ground Training

Ace was experimented on by his own government in an attempt to make super soldiers.  But like the others of his kind who didn't quite make the cut, he was cast out.  He's made his home at a family ranch where no one is aware of his horst-shifter natures.  His biggest problem is trying to get rid of the 4yr old who thinks she's his best friend and believes she can talk to animals!

But after an incursion at the ranch where Ace was captured after failing to protect the family, he's once more experimented on until he managed to break free.  Now working with Immortal Ops, Psi-Ops and even the Fang Gang, Ace has returned to Colorado and finds himself on the land next to ranch.  Now his horsey side is about to land him in hot water!

I loved meeting the sarcastic, workaholic, straight talking Charley.  Her bestie, Lindy, is a working s3xual harassment lawsuit but is also someone who has "extra talents" that she shouldn't have.  Her caring nature lands her a couple of weird ranch-hands (Bill and Gus) and then she takes in a humungous horse who helps fend off a pack of coyotes.

The Flock and the Corporation don't appear to be taking a telling and keep coming back for more.  And our mis-matched, dysfunctional team are more than happy to keep dishing out the a$$whoopings!

This was a wee bit of a slow starter but it picks up pace quickly.  What I love is that the author is never scared to let the MMC put his foot in it and then let him grovel.  Ace is very good at grovelling!  Charley and Lindy may seem like an odd couple of besties but I think they complement each other well.  As usual Bill and Gus steal the scenes and the misnomers Bill comes up with always leave me sniggering!

The supporting characters are almost all known to us but there a few newbies.  I cannot wait to see what is in store for Lindy!
