No. Domestic violence is not cool. Main female character slaps the male character. That's not ok. The children are terrified throughout the book about potential domestic abuse from Wyatt. He is not abusive. The kids witnessed their mother being abused and was afraid that the same thing would happen to the aunt. But it appears to be ok with the author to have the main female character (the aunt) slap Wyatt!!! I guess that's not considered a big deal when she does it. I hate that so much. It's abuse. 

She was a shrew throughout the book. I hated her even more after she assaulted Wyatt.
