And when he bit into the honeyed sugar, it would be poison filling his mouth.

He seemed ro take my silence as assent, and he continued. "Ta read you like scripture, a prayer: And all the worship I felt, I'd heap at your feet." His words were low, like he was actually praying, or reciting an incantation of the djinn, words for whispering magic and power.

Weirdly the middle was my favourite part of the book, towards the end it was starting to lose me and felt things were resolved too quick, the plot twist was so random???

Never read a lovers to enemies book before and lovedddd the concept, this so could have been a two parter rather than a stand alone fantasy

The book didn't pull me in until about 100 pages in.  I liked the interactions between Dani and Maz, but would have liked more friend bonding with Noor.

Firstly i want to say from me, 3 stars is NOT a bad review. I was very much interested in the book and couldn’t stop thinking about it. I liked our main character and her friend Noor. I liked the magic system and how unique it was. However i didn’t really feel a connection to the love interest, Maz. I also feel like a lot of it was very rushed, like their relationship / forgiveness and dismissing the idea of revenge. It all felt too easy and quick, and i personally don’t forgive Maz still, which makes the book really conflicting.
