I picked this up in the bargain section at Borders last summer. Though raised Catholic, I didn't grow up attending mass each Sunday and I never made my first communion/confirmation (still on my list of things to do; we moved a lot and I imagine that got in the way when I was younger). I only really started to explore and learn about my religion at the end of high school and I love reading books about Catholicism and Christianity. This book was most useful for its overview of the history of the church, which I found interesting. It also provides a good overview of the sacraments, different orders, the institutions of the church, and the liturgical calendar. AND IT HAS PICTURES. The artwork and photos chosen for the book are beautiful. I'd recommend to anyone curious about Catholicism and looking for a place to get started. This is also the kind of book I would have found fascinating as a kid.
