Mathilda, a semi-autobiographical work, is a brilliant example of Shelley's genius. Emotional at times, it is a strong psychological portrait, skilfully written by a gifted and knowledgeable author. Published posthumously, it explores themes of incest, familial relations and mental suffering. Wonderful!
