first of all, i hated that he has a girlfriend !!! i find ridge adorable and he's a musical genius 🥹 he and sys wrote the beautiful songs so well and him alone writing those songs for syd makes it sweeter. i had to find the songs on spotify because it's available! 

on the other side, i love how maggie staood up for herself, for what she wants. i liked how she approached the problem and reflected on it first. good thing she realized something for herself though. 

another thing, i love ridge's circle of friends. i liked their genuine appreciation and admiration for ridge. even his brother.

Yeah, I knew this one was going to frustrate me. At least I wasn’t disappointed. I actually could not stand these characters, the emotional and actually cheating that happened is something that shouldn’t be avoided. It took some digging for me to understand what the point of the story is supposed to be but I actually hate how it happened. Especially when it doesn’t come together during the last 25% of the book when I actually can’t stand the characters who are honestly hypocrites to the situation at hand. It’s safe to say I didn’t like this one and honestly doesn’t surprise me when any kind of cheating is involved in the story between the main characters.

After the last few New Adult books I have read this book impressed me for many reasons:

 The main two characters don’t sleep together until the very end… literally the last four pages.
 This fact made me smile, because I feel that New Adult books get so hung up on the raunchy sex scenes to make people buy and like their book. This book was thought-provoking on its own and didn’t need explicit content to carry it.
 The main male character is deaf, but you don’t know this for about 6 or so chapters.
 There is nothing wrong with being deaf, but very rarely do you find the male love interest of YA/NA books to not be able to hear. It was amazing to me that Hoover made you fall in love with this guy, because he is sweet, talented, mysterious, and attractive… then BAM, but this fact only makes you love him more. This fact makes the story so much deeper.
 The book deals with cheating, but it doesn’t consume the entire story.
 I am not normally a fan of books that deal with cheating and infidelity and all that jazz, but for this book to make sense it had to happen, but Hoover did it in a way that the story doesn’t get hung up on it– you hate the people you are supposed to and you root for the people you are supposed to.
 The “love” scene was classy.
 This may sound a bit strange, but in the past few NA novels I have read the sex scenes are super descriptive in a “way too much information” kind of way to where you feel like you are reading porn. This was completely different. It was sensual, but the way it was written makes it come off in a completely different manner. It isn’t sick or kinky or something you wouldn’t share with a friend… it was sweet and loving and very deep.
 I didn’t hate either of the main characters.
 I liked Ridge, the main male character, from the beginning. He is mysterious and attractive and musical… what’s not to love. Sydney, the main female character, was a bit iffy at first; I wasn’t sure how to feel about her, but she grew on me and then I was like eh, but then she turned back around. There wasn’t ever a moment when I disliked the characters and wanted to slap them or stop reading, because they sucked.

 Who knew someone who isn’t deaf could write about feelings and emotions from a deaf person. It broke my heart the stories he told, but it made be all giddy and bubbly when he speaks to Sydney. That just has so much power.

 Fantastic scene. Enough said.
 The soundtrack to the book.
 This is such a cool idea. Sometimes with books that deal with music and lyrics, you can’t always get a feel for the beat and stuff, but having a soundtrack was really neat and I have really fallen in love with some of the songs.

The reading of lyrics was cringey at best. I think this would have been a better eye read than ears, but what can ya do. As far as the MMC I kind of think he may be the most toxic coho bf. Something about it all just doesn’t sit with me. I will say this is by far the least traumatic book I’ve read by her and it was borderline YA read in terms of content for me.

maybe someday is.. something i didn’t expect. and i’ve waited a week to review it, but somehow, i still can’t compose my thoughts. i flew through the book in less than twenty-four hours, but it’s still not as satisfying as i’d hoped. (even though it was still really good.) i was hesitant to read it because the summary said it was about a girl who found her boyfriend cheating on her best friend. i’m not a huge fan of crying, heartbroken girls, so this book was something i wouldn’t usually read. but after all the raving on colleen hoover, i decided to give it a try. (also the ebook was on sale, why not?)

the synopsis is mostly about her “wonderful life,” then things come crashing down when she finds her boyfriend cheating on her best friend/roommate. it also mentions a guy named ridge, who she’s kinda getting into? um.. okay. i promise, that is the first ten pages. everything after that is a bit mind blowing and not what i expected. i would tell you, because it feels like you should know, but it’s considered a “spoiler;” i wouldn’t want to risk it. this book talks about a few serious(ish?) topics, and does include a love triangle (but not with who you expect). music is a huge part of the story and i love how it connects the characters and brings out all the emotions. the story and writing will leave you saying, “just one more chapter,” until you’re finished with the book – which is exactly what happened to me. 

colleen hoover’s writing style is kind of amazing, but it also reminds me of fan fiction. there will be moments when i’m reading and it feels like i’m reading a really good fan fiction, not a novel. i’m not sure if that’s a good thing, but that’s just the vibes it gives. the way she writes makes you feel as if you’re actually inside the character’s head. you follow their thought process and everything. she’s also hilarious. there were multiple times when i literally laughed out loud because it was so funny. you care for every single character (which is extremely rare) and learn to accept and embrace their so-called flaws. the relationships between the people and her quotes! ahh, all of it is just so good. this is the first colleen hoover book i read, and i do intend on reading the rest of her novels.

i feel like i would’ve given it a higher rating if it wasn’t over-hyped. i mean, yes, it is good, but it’s not that good. it was also my first new adult book, so i couldn’t relate to the characters as much since they’re experiencing things i wouldn’t yet understand (i’m still a teeeeeeen). nonetheless, this book was enjoyable.  you should definitely read it if you like cute and adorable contemporaries.

I'll be honest, I was skeptical at first. About halfway through reading, I didn't think I was going to like the direction that Colleen Hoover is taking the story. I was even pissed at some point. But I pushed through it and my god that was one of the most amazing romance novels that I have read in a while. It also doesn't hurt that the songs that were written on this book has actual song versions (which one can easily find on YouTube).

This one is a great read.

1.5 stars. This book was well written, but I hated the story. I hated the characters. I usually find all of colleen’s books to be satisfying in the end, and I guess whatever I expected or wanted to happened happened, but usually there is a twist in there or something to really make you invested and this book did not do that for me. It did allow me to forget why I hated it sometimes though and get lost in the connection the characters had.

If someone asked me to describe how I felt reading Maybe Someday in one word I don’t think I could answer them. What I felt reading this book is something I’ve never felt before; emotions stirring that I never knew I had. Almost every page, every chapter, every POV change I was teetering on an emotional scale. I couldn’t tell you or Colleen Hoover how often I came close to tears reading this book. Nothing I write in this review could justify what this book has made me feel – the beautiful love story between Sydney and Ridge, and how much heartbreak they go through in order to be together.
 
Everything in life was going well for Sydney. She had a loving boyfriend, a best friend and roommate, and a really good-looking neighbour across from her balcony who played guitar every night. Everything was right in the world, at least until her 22nd birthday. Temporarily homeless, her neighbour Ridge decides to give her a place to stay. But there’s something between them that they’re missing. This unspoken attraction that neither of them can ignore no matter how much they try, and soon, Ridge and Sydney find themselves becoming more to one another than just friends.
 
Just read this.
 That’s it. That’s all that needs to be said.
 JUST READ THIS.
 I don’t think anything else I can say can justify how good this book is. It was DIFFERENT, EMOTIONAL, HEARTBREAKING, BEAUTIFUL, and it brought tears to my eyes more than once. Take my word for it and just pick it up right now. It’s a stand-alone (for now), an easy and I promise a QUICK READ. You will not want to put it down.
 
I will admit that this is the first Colleen Hoover book I’ve ever read – shocking I know. Certain series just intimidate me, especially with my never-ending TBR list. When I found out she was coming out with a stand-alone I jumped at it. Not only did I have high expectations after the huge marketing campaign for the book, I was super excited to explore the MUSICAL component in it. Again, I won’t lie, I had no idea who Griffin Peterson was before this book – yes, I jumped on the bandwagon. But now that I’ve heard him sing, and write and play, I can’t wait to hear him live! The songs he wrote for the book were just so wonderful and fit so perfectly I was just in all astonishment! My favourite song would probably be “I’m in Trouble”, I just think it’s so sweet and cute and a little more upbeat than the other songs.
 
It’s hard to deny the chemistry and attraction between Sydney and Ridge. They were just MADE for each other. They have so much passion and are so honest and open with each other, it’s what EVERY RELATIONSHIP should be built on – honesty and openness. They’re playful, they laugh, they have fun, but they also work hard together, they’re a beautiful balance of the perfect we all wish we could have *SIGH*.
 
Her breaths fall in waves against my lips, and although I can’t hear them, I imagine they sound like how a heartbeat feels. I let my forehead fall against hers, and I feel a rumble from deep within my chest rise up my throat. The sound I feel pass my lips causes her mouth to open in a gasp, and the way her lips are slightly parted causes my mouth to immediately connect with hers in search of the relief I desperately need.
 
One of the biggest qualities I admire in this book that’s more predominant than in most books is the sense of MORALITY the characters have. No matter how hard it is to make a decision, both Ridge and Sydney both exercise a sense of maturity, make conscious decisions and are aware of all the parties involve. They don’t mean to hurt anyone in their decision-making but as the saying goes, “you can’t help who you fall in love with”.
 
Ridge: Sydney, I can’t tell you what your message just did for me. Seriously. I feel like the weight of all nine planets (because yes, Pluto will always be a planet to me) has been crushing my chest since the moment I walked away from you last night. But knowing that you don’t hate me and that you’re not mad and that you aren’t concocting an evil revenge scheme feels so damn good right now. Thank you for that.
 
I am DEFINITELYRECOMMENDING this book to everyone, and you reader, I’m recommending it to you. Recommend Maybe Someday to everyone you know! I promise you, you will not regret this beautifully heart-breaking, emotional rollercoaster of a ride.

I think I’m the only person on the planet who doesn’t cry at CoHo books. This one... fell short for me. I really hate love triangles so it was very hard for me to get into the romance part of this story.

I did love the overall theme of connecting with each other through other senses besides hearing. I thought that was really unique and beautifully written.

This was such a slow burn but not in a good way. I honestly wanted to strangle the characters the entire time. Again, I think it’s more about my dislike of this particular trope than it is about this book. Beautifully written as always, just not my favorite CoHo book.

           Oh boy, this one was disappointing. I really loved It Ends With Us, and this had great reviews so I think maybe my expectations were too high... 

Okay, the good: it’s well written, and I was super into it for the first part (pretty much up until the Maggie storyline was introduced)

The bad: the plot. I almost gave up on it so many times but I hate giving up on books so I powered through. I hated any romantic moment between Sydney and Ridge because it’s tainted by him cheating emotionally and kinda physically, I hated that Maggie had a terminal illness (she deserved so much better), I hated that he still never once chose Sydney over Maggie, even at the very end he still admits he’s loyal to Maggie and would go back to her!!! Like, what??? Unrealistic overall, and honestly just infuriating.

Admittedly it was a slow read for me throughout however I will always love Colleen Hoovers book and I honestly loved how one of her character’s in her books finally had a disability (which means a lot to me as a wheelchair user). Ridge and Sydney had my heart from the beginning and I just also loved the bromance between Ridge and Warren!
Made me tear up at some points but that’s what I love about CoHo!😁🧡
