It took me a good couple of chapters to really get into this, as I didn't find Sarah a particularly likeable character initially. To avoid spoiling this for anyone else, I will simply say that (to paraphrase the words on the back of the book) "Sarah suffers the very worst of betrayals". She subsequently revisits old friends and locations, and wonders how her life has come to this when it wasn't really what she wanted. Time, family and friends help her to make her decision....
