Brianna is working two dead end jobs and living in a lousy apartment when her friend, Carolina asks her to make a special cake for her wedding.  Brianna has been trying to get her cake business off the  ground for a while, and she thinks the cake she is making for Carolina's wedding might get noticed.  Dante has never seen anything like the cake that Brianna makes for his niece's wedding, but she takes offense when he comes in early for a sample and just can't get enough.  Dante has to have her cakes, so he decides to kidnap her and take her to Italy where she will make cakes for him alone, but their relationship takes an unexpected turn.

My Favorite Kidnapper reminds me of late 1980's and early 1990's romances; a rich alpha hero that does things just because he wants to and an introverted ingenue who knows little of the world.  The characters in this novel are woefully underdeveloped and the plot is very simplistic.  There are few supporting characters and we learn little about them during the story.  Even with these issues, however, this book does have some redeeming qualities.  The Italian setting is charming as are the cakes that Brianna bakes.  A slightly suspenseful climax adds some interest to this narrative that had promise to be a much better novel.  Overall, My Favorite Kidnapper is a throwback romance that would have been extremely popular in years past.
