If the prologue doesn't lure you in, you aren't actually reading it. This book is whirlwind of emotions and stories. I loved every minute of this book. 

Juliet has one summer that completely changes her life, well at least the way it ends does. Mom wants the family to spend one last summer together as a family before Juliet goes off to college and her sister graduates college. Juliet is sick of pretending that everything is perfect. This is what they argue about right as their tire blows and she then meets Emerson Ray. 


  "'You see a hurricane coming, you run.' My mom told me, the summer I turned eighteen. 'You shut the doors, and you bar the windows. Becomes come morning, there'll be nothing but the wreckage left behind.' Emerson Ray was my hurricane."


The summer doesn't end well at all for Juliet. All in one day she loses her mom and her only love, Emerson. She spends months in depression before her roommate and now best friend drags her our of her depression. 

She meets Daniel and she becomes everything she didn't want to be. She pretends that everything is okay and her past is just left in the dark. She doesn't share with Daniel the passion and dark wreckage of her life. She just pretends. 


  "Sure we're fine on the surface, but everything underneath is broken and rotted. Ugly." 


4 years after that dark summer, Juliet has to go back to Cedar Cove, the family summer home, to pack up everything because her father has to sell it. The first night she runs into her hurricane. 


  "Seeing him is more that I ever imagined: his presence fills my world, overwhelming, like there's nothing else in the room. Like the room doesn't even exist--it's only him, and me, and the storm of emotions crashing through me I thought I'd never feel again."


4 years later and everything still comes rushing back. The love, passion and hurt.

Juliet has to get through the hurricane before she can have her steady breeze. The hurricane that Emerson Ray brings her is something she needs to sit through and hunker down for, but man is the steady breeze worth it.
