The Hours is so full, just the way that life is full of history, sensations, textures, scents, details, conjectures, anxieties, memories, and moments of intense love and violence in and amongst the overspill of mundanity. 

Cunningham did untold damage to the literary genre with this novel as his tools have been continuously employed by lesser writers to poorer and poorer results over the past 25 years. Revisiting The Hours as a vital touchpoint for  contemporary literature just makes me feel so appreciative of Cunningham and Woolf both as singular talents/visionaries. 

I don’t think it’s possible to overhype The Hours. Genuine masterpiece.
