A fascinating glimpse into conservative Roman Catholic thought (for this low-church protestant). Definitely "a novel of ideas" (as O'Brien prefaces the work), but yet occasionally a real page turner. Although I don't agree with a lot of the theology in the book, it had some profound insights on the Christian life that were helpful. I haven't read the "Left Behind" books, but I imagine this to be the Roman Catholic, literary, equivalent.
