This book chronicles the life of Jane McKetchnie Walton and her harrowing journey from her native home in Scotland, across the Atlantic and across the American plains as a barefooted pioneer. Jane and her husband become part of the Hole in the Rock expedition (a small group of pioneers who carved a road in a 2,000 foot cliff above the Colorado River) and settled the Four-Corners area of the western United States. She dealt with hostile terrain and angry native Americans only to be murdered during a town celebration. Now, 130 years later, her great-great grandson solves this intriguing cold-case.
