I've been a fan of Nancy Drew since I was young, so once I saw this I knew I needed to read it. This is so not the Nancy Drew I grew up with, and I'm here for it. Thompson really brings Nancy into the modern age while still keeping her true to her roots. She's still a super smart detective, just a little more sassy and feisty. It's definitely a fun read for any fan.

Nancy Drew in a graphic novel

This had my two favorite things Nancy Drew and graphic novels. I loved seeing this modern take on one of my favorite female characters and a brand new mystery.

I never read or watched any adaptation of the original Nancy Drew stories, so I can't compare it with anything. My opinion is purely based on this graphic novel alone, and it is highly entertaining. It was funny, cute, intriguing, basically anything I could ask in a teenagers mystery story.

Both the characters and the story was up to date with modern teens making it easily relatable and enjoyable. There is an LGBT representation which is always welcome, and the cast of characters is versatile from bodies of all sizes to different skin colours.

The mystery is explored throughout the entire volume and resolved at the end, but still leaving room for another mystery to come next. Hopefully, this adaptation doesn't stop here and continues to be published for many more volumes.
