I can't even begin to describe how satisfied I am with this series. This book, UnDivided, was one of the best concluding novel in a series I have ever read, and most definitely my most favorite in this series. I loved this book so so so freaking much. And I am so damn happy to have a chance to read this gem.

Honestly, I felt anxious starting this book. Not because the conclusion might not reach my expectation, but because I have no freaking idea how Neal Shusterman would end this wonderful series. And also it was kind of sad saying goodbye to these characters that I came to love. There was even a part of me wanting to hold off reading this book because I just don't want this series to end. But despite everything, my excitement over what was going to happen can't be beaten.

This series was so unpredictable. You think you knew where it was going but then it would take a sudden turn that would make your head spin. It can also easily get you at the edge of your seat.This was so so so good.

All characters were not a waste. I respect even the most evil villain of them because of how great they portray their wickedness. They were so infuriating but they were so damn good at it they deserved my praise. Starkey, Nelson and Roberta, they made the story a color of blood with their viciousness. Even the redeeming antagonists like Argent and Bam, they made me want to salute them with their last minute redemption that was done in their own way. The supporting characters like Cam, Hayden, Grace, Sonia, Miracolina, Una, the Admiral (with his sudden appearance) who made their success possible. 

And most especially the main protagonists who suffered a lot more than one individual can bear in a lifetime; Connor Lassiter, Risa Ward and Lev Calder (Lev Tashi'ne). Damn, they sure suffered a lot. Maybe it seemed impossible that teenagers like them can overthrow a disastrous Unwind Accord, but they still managed to do it. With their anger and desperation, combined with their wits and strong will to survive and the hope of a future without unwinding, their age didn't even matter to be able to achieve their success.

But what I admire the most in this story is how they were able to win against a lot of enemies that held different agendas to overpower them. They became a team, but they were not necessarily piled together to do that. They became a team, with different roles to play, different directions to turn, different decisions to make and different destinations to end up and all of them were spread all throughout the story. "They all have jobs to do and they need to do it in their own way",I can practically hear the author says. They encountered countless of problems along the way and Neal Shusterman made it look like they were fighting their own battle, as if they were involuntarily assigned with their own problems to solve, but in a bigger picture, they were actually running towards one goal. The author played it out by having different perspective to show that and I don't think there's a better way to do it. It was so damn perfect!

Aside from the plot itself and the spectacular character development, I so loved the strategic style of this series, the realistic approach in this dystopian world. Given that most of the characters were teenagers, it was not impossible to believe about their capabilities to do what they did to succeed. 

I mentioned that this probably is my favorite book in this series but seriously, I loved every single book. If I am to read this series again, and I am positive I will, I know that the first three books, which I initially gave 4-star ratings, have a high possibility to have a higher rating, maybe a 5-star rating as well just like this one. I just loved this so so much and this just became one of my most favorite series of all time. Highly, highly recommended!

Undivided

This final book broke my heart and repaired it before the pain could set it. Every thread in the plot was woven together to form a beautiful tapestry. I feel that I can leave this series contented, and am so grateful for that!

Endings are hard to get right, and wrapping up the Unwind series was definitely not going to be an easy task. Unfortunately, this final book doesn't deliver the punch that the first three manage to land. Events happened quite quickly, and there were more character POV switches than ever. Some of the pivotal scenes in the book felt like they didn't get enough attention, and, while the suspense levels were still high, the plot seemed a little too coincidental in parts. In many ways, I felt the conclusion was a bit too clean for such a messy book, and the payoff I was hoping for in terms of the politics of the book was too pat and not risky enough. I enjoyed the series immensely, but I wish that it has ended on a stronger note.

Keeping this spoiler free! I didn't even realize that the finale to this series had been released; apparently Amazon was slacking with their recommendation emails! I just happened to see one copy of it on an end cap in Barnes and Noble, and I obviously purchased it. I picked up the series on a whim based on a Buzzfeed article. I am incredibly glad I did, as the Unwind series is one of the most imaginative and well-written dystopian YA fiction I've had the pleasure of reading. Undivided is a solid and satisfying finale. 4 stars!

A few thoughts:
* Shusterman is a genius on characters.
* It's disturbing.
* I really do think it's true that humanity is this ignorant and sheepish as a whole.
* I've never read something like this. In a 'wow' kind of way.

Very satisfying end to this series. It's been awhile since I finished it, so I'll have to reread and give a better review at some point.

I'm editing my review, as I had typed it from my phone in the wee hours of the morning and made some rather unfortunate mistakes.

I have two words to start this with.

Holy guacamole.

When I started this adventure with Connor Lassiter, I had no idea what to expect. I haven't experienced any story like this before and I'm pleased to announce I was so down for this until the very end.

This dystology spins a whole other side to what a society can do when they've been convinced that something immoral is perfectly acceptable and needed. In this case we're learning of unwinding- a process that divides a person into parts, in this case teenagers, and those parts are then sent to people who are determined "more important" or more "deserving" of life.

From the beginning, you're gripped by something that seems impossible, but at the same time is all too believable; a thing that you could see society accepting as the norm. The unwinding of troubled teens is perfectly justifiable and they aren't considered human beings with rights- an all too scary thing we see even in society today.

Needless to say, this was one of my favorite book series I have ever had the pleasure of reading. The plot wasn't predictable but thought provoking and gripping. It taps into your emotions, provides you with characters you adore and love to hate.

Overall, I give this 4.5 stars.

And, that's how you end a book series. I'm serious. This is one of the best final novels I ever read. This series didn't go completely downhill like The Hunger Games or so many other YA dystopians. It was the kind of finale you'd expect from a series as dark and twisted as Unwind, with violence and some really messed up moments and other fun things like that. As a whole, this series just worked, it was smart and thought-provoking and action-packed and balanced all that out with humor and and a really great and diverse cast of characters. This series is the reason Neal Shusterman is one of my favorite authors ever. And one more thing- please tell the "gardening accident" bit was a reference to This Is Spinal Tap.
