I alternated between being floored by the depth of wisdom in some places and feeling completely lost in others. I found Ch 29 the most heartening bc it talks about finding a path to contemplation that is uniquely your own. This book can help me but it's not a blueprint bc God has a unique plan for me. It's not surprising that what works for Merton won't exactly work for me. What a relief it is to read that. 

Lots of great, thought-provoking passages but the end of Ch 38 says, "For this is what all hearts pray for when they cry 'Thy will be done.'" I've said that phrase thousands of times without enough thought.
