I Feel Bad About My Neck by Nora Ephron

This is a cute read about the joys and trials of being a woman. Ephron tackles things like beauty, menopause, weight gain etc. The short stories are humorous and honest. I recommend this light read.

I enjoyed the second half of this far more than the first half so I’m glad I kept going. The first half of the book contained stories that were pretty much rich-privileged-old-lady ‘problems’. She wasn’t very sympathetic (comparing herself to a homeless woman in a very callous way at one point). But the second half of the book revolves more around her love of New York and it was much funnier and enjoyable.

Filled with cliches, not very funny and I really should have avoided the audio book. She is painful to listen to. But she rallied with the chapter on reading and the one on death. Still cliche ridden but touching and heartfelt. After finishing the book I immediately ordered some Dr. Hauschka's lemon bath and found a recipe for cabbage strudel.

So completely funny. 
Some comments made me laugh out loud, some made me cringe, some made me wish she hadn’t said it at all. 
It’s easy to forget when reading people are whole complicated human beings, they say the wrong thing and it’s there as immoral as when they say the complete right thing. I really loved this book. Nora Ephron reminds me of my mum so reading this felt like all the best bits of a long family car journey without being told I need a better job.
