Fifteen-year-old Selwyn Lewis emigrates from South Africa to England with his family, hoping to leave his guilty past behind. Yet his rigid, white South African attitudes prevent him from settling and making friends, and his past keeps coming back to haunt him. Unable to share his worries and problems with anyone, Selwyn's crisis slowly reaches breaking point.
