Já tinha lido “Os da Minha Rua” quando era mais nova e tinha gostado muito, mas revisitá-lo agora foi ainda mais especial. A inocência e o deslumbre típico da infância são tão bem representados, a nostalgia de ser criança... 
A representação do salto da infância para aquela adolescência com cheiro a maturidade e idade adulta. O peso desse salto dentro de nós, do momento em que percebemos que já não somos assim tão pequenos, e que o adeus é inevitável. 

Escrita tão simples, tão reconfortante. Contos que aquecem o coração.

Ondjaki is an extremely famous Angolan writer. He writes in Portuguese and has won a famous Portuguese prize called The José Saramago Literary Prize with the book "Os Transparentes", and of course many other prizes (this is just the one I have the most knowledge about). I would really love to read that book but for now, I have read "Os da Minha Rua" and I have absolutely loved it!

Such a poetic and heartwarming book. In this literary work, Ondjaki takes you to his periods of childhood, to a new world, a place where you didn't grow up but where you feel fully welcome. The atmosphere is just so enchanting. And although these are not the exact same experiences of childhood that most of us have lived there is something extremely relatable about it all. Children are not so different as we may think.

It is for books like these that I love to read and keep on wanting to find new authors from different parts of the world. If you are able to get your hands on this masterpiece I highly recommend you do so.
