Those who find beautiful meanings in beautiful things are the cultivated. For these there is hope.

We can forgive a man for making a useful thing as long aste does not admire it. The only excuse for making a useless things that one admires it intensely. All art is quite useless.

‘What odd chaps you painters are! You do anything in the world to gain a reputation. As soon as you have one, you seem to want to throw it away. It is silly of you, for there is only one thing in the world worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.(…)’

But beauty, real beauty, ends where an intelectual expression begins.

You might see nothing in him. I see everything in him.

They have forgotten the highest of all duties, the duty that one owes to one's self.

This gave me so much to think abt after my last book I littered the pages w bookmarks

beautiful to read, but lord henry is just too unbearable. 

One of the best books I have ever read. Such a life lesson on beauty and sin and our relationship with us and others. I would give so much to read it again, for the first time.
