There are lots of dumb dumbs who have reviewed this book and criticized it for bit being funnier. I guess I'd be disappointed too if I'd approached this with the mindset that a comedian wrote it, or if I'd bought it in a store where it was shelved as "humour." Thankfully I had an idea what I was getting into and I'm aware that Offerman is an actor, not a comedian. Sure, he's a funny enough fellow who is a talented actor who can play comedy exceptionally well, but I didn't buy this expecting it to be a joke bit or an extended stand-up routine like most comedians' books are. I got what I wanted: the story behind a rather famous fellow who is actually interesting and has had a genuinely interesting path through life and a unique worldview. I was not disappointed, for the most part. My only qualms were that his writing does tend to reach a little too hard, probably shoehorning in more $10 words that would be necessary. I'm sure it comes natural to him, but if be lying if I said it didn't feel forced at times. Oh, and the illustrations were fantastic.
