I'm aware my reviews of this series are increasingly uninspiring. Which is a shame because the books, although not mind blowing, are definitely worth reading. I do feel that reading them in order as I am now, is more enjoyable than the odd couple I previously picked up here and there. 

Part of the books' appeal is the stories of Kay and Lucy running alongside gritty crime; but at the same time it's hard not to believe that if Cornwell dropped the interpersonal plots and focused on the crime, that the books would be infinitely better. But then they wouldn't be what they are after all.

I do love that even though the personal themes remain consistent, each book has a vastly different crime plot. This one brings a decent dose of conspiracy theory but backed up with the usual depth of factual analysis.

I'll be taking a book or two of a break before the next one so I don't end up being unfairly critical!

That aside. I am pretty sure if I was to hang out with Scarpetta for the evening we would have a great time.

Cause of Death is the 7th book in the series of detective stories about Kay Scarpetta,

I liked the book itself, the plot is compelling and when it comes to nuclear, I’m all for it since I’m a chemistry major, the only flaw is Kay, I know that is the main character but I really can not stand her relationship with Wesley or her long speeches with her niece… in all the books I’ve read so far, it is the usual story with Lucy. I liked Marino more here, even if I did not like him in the previous book or at least his jealousy, here I found his character improved with both Kay and Lucy.
