Patton Oswalt is a very funny fellow and he manages to avoid the typical stand-up-routine transcription you see when a lot of comedians write a book. He definitely has a skewed view of the world and a uniquely academic sensibility about nerd minutiae. The mix of memoir pieces with graphic novel, skit-like comedy pieces, and meditations on themes (quirky greeting cards, justifications for why his grandma gave him certain birthday presents) can be a bit jarring at times but it's never dull.
