I always try to push through any rough starts of the books in my leisure reading queue, but this was so utterly unpalatable that I just couldn't make it any farther. I received this as a gift after putting it on my wish list on the recommendation of a Twitter colleague, and that's what I get for taking unsolicited reading advice. For what it's worth, the premise of this novella sounded fun, but the 'prose' was so incredibly self-congratulatory and on-the-nose overly clever that I simply couldn't handle the madcap-level. I'm glad that independent authors are getting their books published, but I'm reminded that just because it's been printed doesn't mean it's readable – as much as I would have liked to read it.
