Dark Night is one of the more interesting Batman stories I've read in years. It's not about Batman himself, but about Paul Dini, a writer who worked on both the animated series and comics. He uses this graphic novel to tell the story of how he was mugged and beaten, and the depression he fell into afterwards. He works through some of the trauma in conversation with the characters he was so intimately familiar with. It's an exceptionally creative use of the characters, and also an enjoyable memoir of Dini's struggles with mental health.
