I realized that I actually read this a year ago and they just changed the cover. 😐 Quick review- Luke and Harper don’t really fall into meet cute, more like WTF! However, after some very bad not-exactly- planning, Harper finds herself stranded in Smalltown USA, at a bar, facing off against an abusive asshole (not for her, but a stranger) and having Luke step in to kind of save her. From there the story takes ALOT of turns, some sweet, some sexy, some funny, but most heartbreaking. It takes (again) ALOT for out two to get through and overcome. Many stops and starts. Some plot twisty things and (again) some heartbreaking revaluations of forgiveness and acceptance. Definitely, have a few tissues handy.

this book is a great introduction to Benevolence and its residents. Harper’s relationships with everyone in town are really strong and heartwarming. Especially during th e grocery shopping scene. Luke’s a little stubborn but it’s understandable and their relationships really cute.

Started off well-enough though the setup was massively implausible. What ruined things for me was the way the H Luke turned into a complete asshole to the h Harper. You can have all the understandable reasons in the world to be emotionally damaged but that doesn't give you the right to be a mean-spirited asshole to someone who has only shown you love and kindness. I also did not buy (view spoiler)[Karen‚Äôs mother Joni‚Äôs abrupt 180 from literally shout-blaming Luke at the funeral for her daughter‚Äôs death to then admitting to Harper of all people, the woman who is dating her dead daughter's husband, that it was ‚Äúher fault‚Äù for sending Karen a text while she was driving that she read and then got into the car accident. And with that, everyone is now BFFs and it's as if Joni hasn't been mentally torturing Luke for years. Also the stalker thing was a stupid and gratuitous plot element. (hide spoiler)]
