I'm a sucker for books with dogs and I'm interesting in learning more about non-neurotypical folks. I read it in one afternoon while I was knitting a hat.

Sweet book about high functioning autistic girl (is autism a theme in every single YA book this year?) and her dog Rain and the choice she makes after her dog gets lost and is re-found after a hurricane. Nothing transformative, but nice enough.

I loved Rain Reign so much that it might be one of my new favorite middle grade books. Rose is on the autism spectrum and Martin does a fantastic job of showing the world through Rose’s perspective. The story takes turns I wasn’t expecting and had me sobbing by the end.

In celebration of Autism Acceptance Month I wanted to read a book with a protagonist who has ASD. Since I was supposed to read this book several years ago, I chose this one. I needed a few spoilers from people who read it first. I am glad I finally read this book. Ann M. Martin does a great job creating a world seen through Rose's eyes and making you really feel what Rose goes through with her dad, teachers, and her love for her dog. A bittersweet ending, but such a great story.
