Reaper's Stand is the 4th installment to Joanna Wylde Reapers MC series and she nailed it with a mature hero/heroine. London being in her late thirties, Reece being in his early forties was refreshing. Joanna Wylde characters stayed true to their age. Their actions in some scenes put a smile on my face because of their maturity level was right on. The sexual tension was hot with a dirty talking hunk of a man who likes to invade London's personal space. They both brought out a young and vibrant side when together. This just made their story fun and playful.

London at times got lost in her own head, but I enjoyed it. She is a mama bear that has to take care of everyone. She understands loyalty and that family is not always about blood. She is strong will and has no issues going head to head with the Reaper's or Reece when it comes to her cousin, Jess, who she has looked after for almost all her life. She in one way or another has been a big part of Jess life since she was born. 

Reaper's Stand was an auto buy for me and could not wait to dive into it but at the same time was not sure how I was going to like it considering he is a widower. As I was reading I really did not know what to think of Reece. Loved that Heather the love of his life since high school was a part of the story. Reece needed the assurance from Heather that is was ok for him to move on. I personally needed it too. Heather moments made me laugh and even shed a tear. All said in done Joanna Wylde worked her magic and I fell hard for Reece.

Joanna Wylde writing voice amazes me with each new novel. These novels are not full blown dark, raw and gritty. This series flow's nicely with the right amount grit when it is needed. Readers are started off with a WTF is happening to absolutely falling in love with the hero/heroine. Then Bam the raw and gritty starts and to be honest I had no idea what direction she was taking with Reece and London. 

I found more humor in Reaper's Stand not only with Reece and London but with Horse and Ruger. Get Reece involved and I was giggling. Horse is such a smartass either with his victims or just joking around with Ruger. 

I hope Painter gets his own story. He has been through so much in these last two novels that I need him to get his HEA. Readers get a sneak peek at Puck's character who is having his own story in a new series Silver Bastard (Silver Valley #1). April 2015 can not come sooner.

I absolutely love reading Joanna Wylde novels. Joanna Wylde definitely have the craft for creating the best MC Romance at all times. Her MC series are the best since it has so much Alpha men throughout the series that it makes the read so much hotter and sexier. We get to read about Picnic journey. I definitely enjoy reading about an older people falling in love since there is no bullshit about them since they have no time for it. I always wonder about when Picnic would find someone since he is such a womanizer. And he definitely found his match, London. I just love London funny jokes. It makes the read so much funnier and fun. London is very independent women but she definitely catch the eye of Picnic. Picnic cannot lie about the intense attraction between London that he decide to pursue it. They really have hot, intense attraction that the sex is so hot and sexy. But their romance journey will hit a bumpy. Would they stay together? Find out when you read this awesome addition story!

Absolutely loved this book, it was the first in the series I read and it just ticked off all my booklover boxes, it had two amazingly complex and attractive main characters, so many amazing secondary characters, plot that was intense and it left me wanted more even after i read the last page. I finished Reaper's Stand in a day because I just couldn't put it down and I just loved the chemistry between Picnic and London. The whole time reading this I pictured London as Christina Hendrix or an older Kat Dennings and Picnic as wrestler Kevin Nash. It's one of those books I just have to buy for my shelf even though I have it on my kindle.

Arrghhhh - I was really really reeeaaallllyyyy looking forward to Picnic's book.

I may be being overly harsh given how much I looked forward to this and how much it missed the mark for me, but since I skim read a lot, I cannot give it more then 1 star. 

And I know that I am very much in the minority here, and indeed the vast majority of my GR friends loved it!






As I said, I skim read a lot of this and missed out large chunks really, so may have missed something brilliant, but I just got a bit bored.

Did not like the first chapter, since that meant I knew what was coming, and pulled back from them coming together as a couple, as I just could not see how it would work and as such felt very distanced from them as a couple (her being in a relationship and Picnic being with other women to start did not help here). Tbh, I just felt depressed reading on, and all their interactions, knowing what was coming -made it all seem false and meaningless. I like books to make me happy.

Felt disconnected from London as a character.

Picnic was not the Picnic we knew from other books.

Felt like something awful, that happened to Emmy, only happened for London to be able to redeem herself and save the day - did not at all like that being used as a way for Picnic to "forgive" London. I am not a fan of previous couples being messed with too much and in such an awful way.

I just cannot see, given the short time span, that Picnic could forgive London, or London could get over him having slept with a woman in the other room - even though they were not "together" there was an attraction, and that would just be off putting anyway. Felt more like it was just a lust driven HFN as opposed to a loving HEA. 

And London turning into the Black Widow kicking ass and shooting up the place!!?



I am a bit disappointed! I loved Horse, and enjoyed Ruger, Emmy's book I had on my kindle to waiting for 2 months before I read it, and this I just did not enjoy. Will I read more by JW in the future? Yes, but not as an auto buy as soon as a book is released.
