I know this book was controversial. For my part, the historical stuff was outstanding. I enjoyed how he painted a real imagery of what life was like in those times, politically and otherwise because we just don't really hear enough about it. So it felt more like a reconstruction akin to watching one of those true crime shows where they reenact what happened but it's based on their own interpretation of the facts so you have to account for that in synthesizing that. This felt that way. 

Still, for the historical background provided and just painting a picture of life in the time of Jesus is was a pretty good book.
