mixed emotions on this one. the overall premise of this book is true and makes so much sense, but some parts are written with a lot of ignorance, disregard for people with trauma, people who have been brutally harmed, etc. Some things just “aren’t that easy”. I believe we can change our circumstances via our minds and LOA. but there was a lot of “if you are in this bad position, ITS YOUR FAULT”. however the rest was just basic and made sense but yeah mixed emotions tbh

I like what the book is trying to teach. I like that it’s easy to read. At times the book has chosen unreadable fonts, which is a bit distracting. I’m not a huge fan of the egocentrism that takes place in this book. It’s very oddly focused on a very materialistic approach to “spirituality” which goes counter to most common sense within this field. While I do believe there are some truths to the statements of this book, I think that the author might be a bit too attached to this delusional approach to life. I do believe that changing your perspective on things will enable a better life with more opportunities, I don’t necessarily think it works because of the reasons outlined in this book.

Ohh yes, the books that say the same thing in 5 sentences and give the strangest examples of how the THING really works. Agreed with some ideas from this book, but I have different opinons about the others. For example:
- I will be sure that I'm going to succeed in what I desire when I know that I'm working for it, and I'm ambitious and persevering!
- nobody comes to your door to give you money just because you strongly think about it (did I get this wrong?)
- why focus so much on thought and not really on ACTION as well? of course you can attract good things or bad things, but how you react to them is important too.
- the universe does not give you stuff. When you start applying this law of attraction, you train your mind to observe the stuff that you want around you, like you never did before, and this is how it "appears" in your life.

Having read Infinite Possibilities: The Art of Living Your Dreams by Mike Dooley, I'm already familiar with the law of attraction, but I never really started using it to my advantage.
I read The Secret because I just wanted to refresh the idea in my mind, and hopefully motivate myself to start using it intentionally.
I would've given this book 4 stars if it wasn't almost 70% quotes. As a book, it gets 3 stars since the author's writing was nothing compared to the writings of the people she quoted. Also, I found Infinite Possibilities a much better book on the subject. The Secret is very basic and doesn't really give you any methods to start off with. It just presents the idea. I might as well have just re-read Infinite Possibilities.

Reading it reminded me of how happy the law of attraction made me the first time I discovered it, though.

And for all those who think it's a metaphor or find it pointless, well, you can't really know if you believe in something until you try to believe in it.
All you need is faith and an open mind.

Uno de los libros que jamás entendi porque salen TAN caros, es decir, tiene una lectura clara pero mientras lo leía decia 'bueno, ya entendi. bueno, está bien, bueno, bueno, AY ME TENES PODRIDA!'. Mucho de lo mismo. La idea es clara, ojalá la gente realmente sea feliz con este tipo de vida, yo no, so, me pareció un libro mas (casi todo mi entorno leyó y pensó lo mismo).

I really wish I haven't read this collection of non-sense. I found the reference to the Holocaust really insulting, by insinuating that the Jews only suffered in the hands of the Nazi's because they didn't think positive.

It was the last time I bought a book without reading a couple of pages first.

From the half a star, it is no secret that I did not like The Secret. The whole book is based on one sentence which is repeated throughout the book and shaped and moulded in various different words. It felt like how we used to write long answers in exam when we didn't know much - twisting the same thing in as many sentences as possible!

           The law of attraction is the fundamental idea of this book. Although, that was only discussed at some points throughout. The maximum energy of the author went into reiterating how good this book is and how helpful it will be to people. That's more of the writing that the actual 'secret' or how to incorporate that 'secret' in your life.

Listened to this on audio book and I found it to be rather boring and not my idea of a good book at all. Some of the philosophy was interesting but it was extremely repetitive. After the first chapter, there wasn't really anything new or enlightening. I have heard a lot of praise for this book claiming it to be 'life changing' and I went in with high expectations and was severely disappointed.

Bueno, este libro no ansiaba reseñarlo porque sigo sin tener demasiado claro que decir. La cosa es que particularmente creo que parte de la ley de atracción es real, que manifestar, visualizar y pedir al universo puede llegar a servir. PERO, no creo ni por asomo en este nivel de arrojo que propone la autora, con cosas como "pegué una foto de una casa en una cartulina y acá estoy, seis años después viviendo en esa casa gracias a que logré que el universo conspire en mi favor". 
 Creo que las palabras tienen mucho valor, que la forma en que uno encare las cosas, asumiendo que el resultado siempre va a ser el necesario o el mejor para las partes involucradas, puede ayudar a que eso de hecho suceda, pero no creo en el milagro de "pensar mucho en algo" y que se presente en nuestras vidas. Por más que visualice un kilo de chocolate todas las noches, salvo que vaya y lo compre, no va a aparecer. 
 No creo en que ningún método pueda reemplazar trabajar activamente para que las cosas sucedan. Puedo creer que sirvan de apoyo, pero ese carácter milagroso que le quieren dar a El Secreto me parece un poco errado, porque muchas personas podrían entender que realmente alcanza con creer firmemente que algo va a pasar para que pase finalmente.
 Me parece útil para quienes quieran leer sobre la ley de atracción, pero no como la biblia que aparentemente pretende ser, diciendo que cuenta con bases científicas para decir que el universo continuamente conspira en nuestro favor y que si pensamos que algo es así, va a terminar siendo así, que si comes pensando que vas a engordar, entonces vas a engordar.
 No lo puedo recomendar, por otro lado no aconsejo no leerlo, simplemente lo dejo a criterio de cada uno, pero es como cualquier libro de autoayuda, no es magia, todo cambio empieza adentro de uno, con esfuerzo, a la antigüita.

Think positive about every aspect of your life and leave the negativity behind. That's all this book is telling you to do. And it's true, there's no secret there. If you believe and tell yourself you can achieve something then you will start to see positive changes in your life. Be a Debbie Downer and think negatively in life then obviously you won't achieve much.

I love that this book emphasizes on gratitude and positive thinking. I feel good, motivated and elevated while going through all the chapters.

However, this book could be dangerous in a certain extent - but it is still okay as long as you take it within your scope of faith.

As a Muslim, I feel that the Universe being talked about here is the God.

These hadith and Al-Quran verses below are not mentioned in the book (that I know and research myself) but if we read properly, they are aligned with this book’s main theories.

The Prophet pbut said, “Allah the Most High said, ‘I am as My servant thinks (expects) I am. I am with him when he mentions Me. If he mentions Me to himself, I mention him to Myself; and if he mentions Me in an assembly, I mention him in an assembly greater than it. If he draws near to Me a hand’s length, I draw near to him an arm’s length. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him at speed.’” (the theory of our life is as how we expect/imagine/visualize/believe it to be)

"If you are grateful, I will surely give you more and more" (Ibrahim 14:7). (the theory of gratitude brings more good things into our life)

Allah says:
"Is, then, He Who creates comparable to any that cannot create? Will you not, then, take heed? For should you try to count Allah's blessings, you could never compute them" (An-Nahl 16:17-19) (the theory of this Universe being abundant)

Argues that The Secret, a way of thinking, has been found in oral traditions throughout history and that by understanding it and using it in every aspect of life, money, health, and happiness will follow.
