Richard Hell

Godlike, Richard Hell's second novel, combines the grit, wit, and invention of Go Now with the charged lyricism and emotional implosiveness of his music. Set largely in the early '70s, but structured as a middle-aged poet's 1997 notebooks and drafts for a memoir-novel, the book recounts the story of a young man's affair with a remarkable teenage poet.

Extremely difficult to read and get through. The writing is self referential and self conscious, at the same time so much of it is obviously just Hell’s ramblings. I much would have preferred an autobiography.
