A seriously beautiful and gut-wrenching picture book, with Rio Alma's rhythmic delivery of a narrative through a short poem. To be able to relate to this by thinking of how seemingly positive the ending is feels incredibly odd, especially since the lead character child lives in Smokey Mountain (hence 'trak'). And yet this speaks to me. 

The decision to release this with illustrations (more like... art worthy to be placed in a gallery) from Sergio Bumatay III is sound, imho. The bleak is bleak, but to see the child's imagination guided by the illustrations makes you look at their world a bit differently.
