This was a book I had wanted to read for a real long time. I have read one of his other series (Kate Marshall) and I had liked it as well. 

The girl in the ice was a fast and action packed book that pulled me along the way with a strong feeling of the weather which was a main context of the story - grey and gloomy without much sunshine and hope. And it fit in nicely with the serial murders which form the story here. The language also is not very complicated and hence makes it a breeze to read it. However there were lots of british slangs and words which needed a quick lookup to know what he meant.

I did not see much of Erika's character build up here - maybe it happens over the series, which I am now interested in reading up. I would like to have known more about her and the situation which was highlighted throughout where she lost her team. 

In terms of plot as well I think it was nicely woven - I had a culprit in mind somewhere down the line but was pleasantly surprised when there was a bigger story and another person at the root of it. This was a nice thing (since I would not like predictability so much in a crime novel - its best to be challenged with who we think is the culprit). THe rationale of the culprit also was not superficial and seemed to be believable. 

Overall a good book that I consumed over the weekend.

I'd actually give this book 3 1/2 stars. It grabbed my attention from the beginning and I found the crime itself intriguing. The problem for me was that I felt like I missed something vital about the main character that was never really explained. Instead of being the first in the series this in many ways felt like a follow-up in relation to Erika. To date I'm undecided as to if I will continue the series

this book is amazing. the writing style of robert bryndza is easy to read but it’s interesting at the same time. i’m currently reading his second book of the erika foster series.

A young rich girl has been found under the ice in South London's less fortunate section and Detective Erika Foster has been called in the solve the murder. I really like Erika, Robert makes it easy to connect to her and how she is feeling. After having led a team that resulted her husband in getting killed, Erika is alone. Erika is a strong character, she doesn't take shit from anybody even the victims family who are rich and powerful. Erika focuses on the case and to get justice for the victims.
This book was good and i throughly enjoyed reading the story, it wasn't amazing though, however i am looking forward to reading what comes next in the Erika Foster series.
