This book might be a good tool for talking to kids about a classmate who might be a recent immigrant or refugee, but I wished that it had a more kid point of view. It felt very much like "adult writing in a child's voice." I also wished that it talked more about how Saoussan was able to adjust - the ESL teachers she might have had, the friends who might have been interested in learning more about her and where she was from. It just felt sort of stunted.
