I liked this book. The writing was really good and it didn't take me very long to read it. I'd say fans of the Mortal Instruments and Magnus Chase will like this book as it kept reminding me of them.I liked the different characters that we are introduced to. The plot was good but towards the end it seemed a bit rushed. It seemed as though, the plot was getting simpler in order for the book to end. I enjoyed the book and would continue and read the next one in the series.

I read this book because it was inside "Marked by Fate" and to be honest it was a hot mess. After looking into this series, I've realized it was the very first in a large series so I will give it the benefit of the doubt that that is why it's such a weird book. 

The main character says many times maybe it's magic, no it can't be magic isn't real. . . this really made me have to put the book down due to a fit of laughter. Who says this? Whose first thought when coming into contact with the strange and unusual is maybe it's magic?! But then again nothing Raine did was logical, it was all to move the story along.

The wrap up this book felt forced, none of it seemed logical, especially the Eric stuff.

The story is so cheesy, so full of plot holes. Not to mention the awful tropes: girl hate and the bad boy who the girl can't help to love and cheat on her boyfriend with. There were so many awful things in this book, which is why I gave it 2 stars.

However, I am paranormal trash and I am really interested in the mythology created here and in seeing what happens next so there is a high possibility I will be continuing on with the series!

Some positives about this one:

- The romance was sizzling. Yes, there is a cheating trope that I did not like at all, but Torin and Raine were so hot together.

- The book is action packed and definitely a compulsive read.

- The Norse Mythology Elements and the mystery behind all that!

The negatives:

- All the cliches and awful tropes and mean girls and etc.

- The pacing was totally off and the story didn't feel very well structered and did not wrap itself up in the end.

- The characters were flat and kind of boring most of the time. There was just one thing about them.

- So many parts that needed some solid editing, like grammar errors and unecessary narrative.

Overall, I would say skip this one, unless you really love paranormal. This book is like junk food for your brain.

Firts of all, let me say thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book :).
I'll be totaly sincerly with you, at the begining I tought that it's only another story like Shadowhunter with runes, demons and a beautiful, mysteriously boy. Now, I can say that my first impression was totaly wrong!
This story is set in a little village near Portland, in the United State. The protagonist is a seventeen-years-old girl, Raine, a teenager falling in love for her bestfriend Eirik. One day, she discover she has a new neighbor, Torin. When he saved Raine's life, the girl start to see some strange marks all over her: in school, in her car and on Torin's body. By that moment, she can't stop thinkink of Torin, so she starts to investigate about him. Who he is? Is he a normal boy or somenthing different? And the most important, why she is the only one who can see marks?
As I said before, the presence of these strange marks rememberd me a lots of other books. After that, this book has not more simile with other stories I've read before.
This runes are not normal marks, but them represented the ancient greec mythology and some nordic legend. Everyone know the myth of Vallalah and also we know some nordic gods like Thor, Loki, etc. I haven't know other things about this ancient colture and, thanks to this book, I learn a lot about these gods and also about North Europe legend.
Obviously I love Torin :3 I always fall in love with mysterious boys, so you can imagine that I fight for the couple Raine-Torin (if that's possible xD). Ok, Eirik is Raine's bestfriend and probably her first love before she knows Torin, but that's all! Most of all, I think also Eirik falls in love with someone else... (ok Giulia stop! remeber: don't do spoiler!).
Ok after this little fangirl moment, I only want to say that I realy enjoy to read this book and I hope to read the sequel soon! =)
