A gritty, bloody story of love and loss set around the Battle of Agincourt. It is 1415 and Sayth Ashe leaves her Welsh farmstead in search of her brother and a new beginning. She joins a group of pilgrims on their way to London and encounters all walks of life, including an unrepentant murderer and a charismatic archer on his way to enlist in Henry's army at Southampton. Plans are changed when she decides to follow the archer - against the advice of Elis, a childhood friend who has always kept a protective eye on her. Sayth embarks on a journey of turmoil and danger across the blood-soaked fields of France with a band of men she comes to love as brothers, and one as a lover. Surviving the battle was a blessing. Surviving marriage was a battle.
