I had high hopes for this book. But it dissapointed me at the end. Tru annoyed me a lot. I felt like the story was just I don´t even know, I just did´t like it. the fact (view spoiler)[.she cheated on Will, then her stubborness when Jaske supposedly slept with a woman, I mean she had no right, and she knew they didn´t sleep together (hide spoiler)] Tru just frustrated me.

Holy. Shit. This book is insane. And I loved it!

So. Let me just start by saying that for me, I loved the last parts of the book. I can totally understand why others wouldn't though. However, since I'm crazy fanatical about angst, the end fit perfectly well for me and redeemed the parts of the book that I didn't like.

Which leads me to my next point.

Tru is a girl with decisions to make. The safe and steady boyfriend, or the crazy, flaming-hot, ex-best friend rock star? I'm not usually a fan of the indecisive MC, and this was no different. I'm wary about reading cheating stories (like The Vincent Boys), and I try to put aside my own judgements, but of course some still end up trickling in while I read. I kept getting angry over and over while reading the middle parts of TMS, because Tru still has not made a permanent decision. I felt sorry for Will, I felt sorry for Jake (well, not all the time-I kind of hated him sometimes too), but I really did not feel sorry for Tru. I can understand why she has such a difficult time deciding, but it was her actions that truly angered me. She eventually does toughen up, and that was made me start liking her more.

Poor, poor Will. I felt so sorry for him and the pain he didn't deserve.

I have a love-hate feeling towards Jake. He is absolutely crazy. He gets jealous, possesive, and completely insane when it comes to Tru. He smokes, drinks, and is a major womanizer. Everything you can possibly think of a rock star doing, Jake has probably done it. Plus, Jake is a jerk. When he wants something, he does whatever he can to attain it. In this case, it's Tru. But then, after doing some really shitty things, Jake does something kind and sweet and wonderful, and I'm left confused on whether I really hate or like his character.

(view spoiler)[The end of the book is filled with angst. Jake starts using drugs again, after recovering from being an addict. It was frightening to see him that way. I started hating him so much, and was rooting for Tru when she went and confronted him. I was so happy that she ended up leaving him when he wouldn't give the drugs up. I wanted her to be over and done with Jake, but she just had to go back to him. And then, when Tru found Jake with another woman, I could just feel her pain. Tears were forming in my eyes, and my heart was breaking for her. And Jake. It's in this scene that you can see just how much Jake truly, completely loves Tru. I was torn between wanting her to leave him for good, and wanting to hold him and make him feel better. And I have no idea why I felt that way. I should have completely hated Jake, but there's just something about him that made me hurt for him. Still, I was so glad that Tru decided to leave him.

The entire time that they were separated, I was very conflicted, just like Tru. The whole drug using thing was despicable, and even though Jake didn't cheat, it was still hard to like him. But I didn't hate him.

I didn't really like the timing of Jake's proposal. Yes, I get that they love each other and he wants to show her just how much, but I thought that it was just too easy for Tru to forgive him. Still, it was a very sweet scene with him singing to her and then running after her when she starts leaving. Just makes me wish I had a rock star who would do something like that *swoon* (hide spoiler)]

This book made my heart hurt. I was so conflicted on how I was supposed to feel about the characters. One minute hating them, the next, not. So if you're looking for a book that will take you on an emotional roller coaster, then TMS is definitely the book for you.
