I enjoyed reading the Gospels straight through, not in bits and pieces as I usually hear them at mass. The new translation generally made me stop to think about what was behind the words or what was the intention of the gospel writer rather than the exact details. The notes and glossary were really my favorite part, though. The culture at the time these books were written is really hard to grasp and while I believe that the Gospels hold universal truths, we miss a lot in our limited understanding of that time and culture.
