About a third of the way through this book I posted an update saying if it didn’t get much better faster then I would DNF it shortly.
Either it did get (marginally) better or I ignored my own rules. I’m not sure which. 

Mother follows an unnamed narrator who tells the story of Christopher, a young man who discovers a shocking secret about his family just as he is about to leave home to go to university. Not only do we have the unnamed narrator (later named, although I think it’s pretty clear who the narrator is from early on!) but also a character called Ben - who we have no idea how he fits into the story until much later, although the majority of the story is told about Christopher and his journey and discovery. 

This story is a little forgettable. I found the plot twists really predictable and the story just wasn’t for me. It was slow, it dragged a bit and I just wasn’t keen.

What I will say though, the character of Margaret, while in the story very little, made me sad. I don’t think I’ll forget about Margaret for a while though I might forget what story she came from. That tugged at my heart strings, I felt very bad for her throughout the whole story.
