There are days when the melancholy settles on you like a sudden change in weather. The kind of sadness that is intangible. Like the presence of an ache where you can’t pinpoint exactly where it hurts, you just know it does.

They say that those who live by the ocean are waiting for something. Someone must have decided long ago to put me by the sea. To live each moment by the light of the stars.

But do not be too indulgent despite how addictive sadness can be, how easy it is to get lost down the path of self-destruction.

I couldn’t figure out why love was different with you until I realized it hadn’t been love with anyone else.

Letting go of what you felt in that dream.

The distance from you is measured in how far I’ve come.

The greatest injustice I have suffered has come under the pretense of love.

The world that slipped through our fingers—

Indeed, a masterpiece. Full of emotions, sadness, love and everything. The way the words pierce into my skin, the way it makes me sad and lovable. It is so good! Lang Leav never fails to amaze me with her words and stories!

This was definitely not for me. There were some pieces I didn't fully agree with but I respect the writers views on love.
This was definitely not for me and the timing could not have been worse. It breaks my heart to give poetry such low rating though.

I still like to read Lang Leav because her I's are I's and not i's. Does it make sense? It bothered me a lot when I read other poets. 

Quite like her previous works, Lang Leav explores love, loss, and writing. The pieces sound familiar because so many writers -- including Leav -- have been asking us to 'move on', 'embrace the pain', 'love the whole moon'... *looks at the ceiling and shakes her head*

Despite the trite, Lang Leav won a wee bit of love from me. A very few poems were unlike other writers's.

Lang Leav wrote this and I wonder if this is the situation of poetry these days:
"What we once knew as conversation,
we now know as poetry."

But I don't say it in Leav's way. Sigh!

a beautiful take on moving on from a relationship. it takes you on a journey of emotions from pre-breakup to post-breakup seeing how it affected the narrator. This book is a re-read from a solid 5 years~ish. it still contains the beauty of love and what it is like to have to let go of such beauty. t perfectly encapsulates the feelings that are stuck in your mind, that you've felt before but cannot put into words, this book does an adequate job at that. my favourite line has got to be "To know I want you, with a passion so blind. Is to know that i love you, with no doubt in my mind."

I read it because I was behind my reading challenge lol The poems were little bit cringy to me, not my style but I like few of them like Sea of Strangers, The Fisherman and By the Sea. They were pretty good.

The lovely: some minimalist but emotionally effective and resonant ideas. The unfortunate: the minimalism makes the poetry/prose pieces feel like they border on amateurish/pretentious/obvious. (Reminds me of some of my stuff… shudder.) Still, the cover is beautiful, each page is a nice breath, and it's a nice quick read.

Some of the pieces that made me smile instead of roll my eyes: Witness, Wishing Well,  Two Worlds, Back to Life, Poetry and Prose,  After All, Borrowed Love, Whole Again.

Inside I wrote you a story about the moon, how night after night the darkness carved at the pale curve of her body until she became half the woman she was.

Another lovely poetry collection from Lang Leav. Once again, some of the poems spoke to me more than others. That is the nature of poetry though. I'm enjoying making my way through her collections. One of the things I like about her poetry is that is a mix of tradition poetry and prose, she does not stick to one style and each poem has a different feel because of that. It comes across more as a genuine expression of thoughts and feelings instead of trying to stick to a particular style trying to express those things.

This poetry book was alright. I enjoyed the poems about writing and poetry more than I did the ones about love, but that’s just my own opinion. I thought there were some really golden poems in here, you just have to sift through some basic ones to find them.

Maybe not as good as her former books, but truly remarkable and heartfelt. It's funny how I am rating Lang's books comparing them with each other, but when it comes to other poetry works, I am trying my best not to, because the would definently feel like failures to me. Lang is my soul sister. Truly.

i am still in awe of this beauty. i literally had tears in my eyes with some of these poems. lang definitely has a way with words and her messages.
