Rachel was a fantastic storyteller with a gift for putting sentences together in beautiful ways. Her poignant words in this book often left me sitting and staring off into the distance as I thought through some truth she had shared that caused me to pause and reflect for a few moments. 

Searching for Sunday is presented as a memoir of Rachel’s journey through seasons of disillusionment with and love for the church. People who can relate to her story will likely find inspiration and communion in it.

When I saw this book recommended on Amazon a few months back, I knew I had to have it. And I'm glad that I spent the money on it because it was worth every penny. 

Searching For Sunday is targeted towards everyone who has ever struggled or are still struggling to find a place to fit in. It targets specifically millenials, since so many of us have already walked away from the church or are in the process of walking away. 

I really recommend reading this, either to gain insight into the reasons we are leaving, or to find comfort in the search for a faith of your own.

Skip to the sections on Communion, Anointing the Sick, and Marriage. I liked so many things she said and the gritty, real, “upside-down” perspective of Christ’s gospel. I do think we need more of it today. But often it was hard to read past her hypocritical and cynical and judge and self-righteous tone. Sticking to those aforementioned sections will give you the fresh Christian perspective you’re seeking.
