In Second Chance Summer, we are introduced to Cedar Ridge Colorado and the fun and sexy Kincaid family. Now also this was my first Jill Shalvis book and I was highly impressed with this one. Once I started listening, I didn't want to put it down, and in my opinion wasn't long enough to satisfy...I just wanted more of Aiden and Lily and the fun mountain setting we have here. This was such a easy going and heartwarming romance that kept me enthralled. I was in the mood for a story like this, so it was just a perfect read for me. And had enough emotional balance to the story to win me over instantly. The chemistry between Aiden and Lily is explosive, and man Aiden is one sexy beast!!!

I love firefighters (what women doesn't...they always fill shirts out so nicely), but Aiden is altogether different. Aiden is the personality to rescue people in distress, I mean HELLO----its what he does for a living hehe. But he along with his brothers, are working their butts off trying to save their family business that their father ruined with gambling debts. The bond these siblings have is so wonderful and engaging. Their bantering was contagious and I always had a good laugh when they got together.

The romance between Aiden and Lily was quite warm and fun. We see the connection they have together, but what I loved more is seeing it grow through the story. They both get tested in different ways, but it only made their relationship more vital. I had no strong issues with the book overall, although Lily could be a bit over dramatic at times. Its what had me four star this book instead of five star. But even though she wasn't my favorite heroine to read...she definitely grew on me and I really liked her. This was a very refreshing read and I can't wait to dive into more of this author.

I will be honest, I had a hard time with the narration. It was the way this narrator talked. Almost like she was always out of breath or something. I don't know, it took me a while to get used to it.

I spent an enjoyable Saturday night and Sunday morning devouring this book, I couldn’t read the words fast enough I just needed more of the story and wonderful romance. This is a perfect summer romance read if you’re on the look out for one. Shalvis is one of those romance authors that has her art form down to a tee and Second Chance Summer is a perfect example of this. If you’re too daunted to dive into her Lucky Harbour series (understandable, there are twelve novels as well as a bunch of novellas) then her new Cedar Ridge book series is a perfect introductory series to you, and you’re lucky because it is just being released so you can get in there at the beginning.

Shalvis is the queen of small-town romance, seriously, I need her to be crowned for it because she writes perfect romances set in small towns which I then instantly want to move to. I cannot wait for more of her Cedar Ridge series to be released because I am fully hooked and can’t wait to experience more of the Kincaid family drama. Shalvis has me fully wrapped up in these characters and she skilled in introducing the characters you know will play significant roles in future novels. I want to know what’s going on with Hudson, one of the Kincaid brothers, and whether or not he is successful in tracking down his twin. I want to know what is happening with Kenna, the only female Kincaid sibling, and why on earth she has become such a recluse. I know I will slowly discover more as the series continues, but enough about future books, let me move on to my review for the opening novel to this fantastic new series.

So, to summarise this review, Second Chance Summer is an hilarious read which features alpha males having a facial, mothers attempting to get back on the dating scene whilst also scarring her sons, a woman whose grief is overwhelming and needs to be faced head on in her hometown and a man who has spend his entire adult life saving people and needs to face the fact that the women in his life do no need saving, they just need him there to support them occasionally when they take a fall… a fall which is occasionally cause by a rabbit spider… or just a plain old rabbit, but that doesn’t sound so terrifying. This his a wonderful read filled with highs and lows and some steamy romance which is always enjoyable. Our introduction to Cedar Ridge is perfect and cannot wait to return in My Kind of Wonderful, now if only that book could be released sooner!

She has created a series that the reader will become obsessed with because there is so much funny moments that makes you laugh out loud and there is sweet yet caring moment that makes you aw! The new series bring a new type of Alpha men and sweet women that it will make the reader weep in joy. There are several new characters that reader will expected more books in the series. The new series start off in Second Chance Summer. In Second Chance Summer, two past characters get to reunite with each other and fall in love but there will be some challenges in their relationship since they both have baggage. Lily is gorgeous women that is facing a hard time when she lost her job to shady ex-boyfriend. She is struggling with her life that she makes a hard decision to come back to her hometown where her little sister has died. It will be tough decision to come back to her hometown but I truly think that it brave to do it and grieve her sister death. She may be back into town that she ultimately face a old flame, Aidam. Aidan is sexy firefighter that he is strong yet sweet men. He has always been a fighter in his life that he shows no weakness except his old flame, Lily. Aidan is definitely shock to see Lily again because he always had strong feeling for her that it is still there. Their relationship does not start off yet because Lily has to face her guilt in order to let go. It may take some time but their flirtation is cute yet sexy that it will steamy up the pages. Reader will fall in love with the character that they will weep when finish it. Jill Shalvis has outdone herself that she creates another perfect romance book! Five Star

I love the new Colorado setting for this series, and the mountains! Hot sexy S&R fire fighters are also a good thing too.

The heroine was feisty, and Shalvis always does a great job of not letting silly lies drive her story. Can't wait for more.

I've not read a lot of Jill Shalvis' books, but I've found I really enjoy the ones I have read. Second Chance Summer was no exception. Of course, I have a total soft spot for second chance romances of any type, so I figured this one would be right up my alley. I was right. 

Second Chance Summer pulled me right in from the very start. Aidan was all kinds of swoony – I mean, hello hot, athletic and heroic? What else could a girl want in a good book boyfriend. Lily was a great, complicated character. She'd left her home years ago after the deaths of her sister and father. She was carrying a ton of guilt around and I hated to see it, but I understood where she was coming from. I loved the pairing of these two and watching them reconnect, even through the bumpy parts, was wonderful. As long as they'd pined for each other, watching them get a shot at a second chance made me so very happy. It wasn't an easy journey – Lily had a lot of demons to battle and baggage to handle – but Aidan was there at every turn to help in any way he could. 

As I expected from Jill, there was no shortage on laughs, swoons or feels during this book. I definitely look forward to continuing on with this series. I love the small town, mountain setting and the cast of characters so far. I can't wait to learn more about them. I also have every intention of continuing to tackle Jill's backlist as time allows. Her books are perfect when I'm looking for a sweet, small town romance.
