The main message of the book is: Never stick up what you already know and try to connect novel ideas to what you already know.

These book tries to study the subjective nature of gathering insights. It proposes a couple of frameworks that can help you understand, originate and foster the creation of valuable insights. It shows tons of cases that focus on specific parts of their model. It’s an interesting read, and it shows a path to translate it to real life easily.

We need insights into the everyday things that frustrate and confuse us so that we can effectively solve problems and get things done. Yet we know very little about when, why, or how insights are formed - or what blocks them. In 'Seeing What Others Don't', renowned cognitive psychologist, Gary Klein unravels this mystery.

If insights were so easy to achieve (i.e. reading a book about it would suffice), then we wouldn't look at them as such gems of wisdom. Then again, as mentioned in the book, everyone uses the word "insight" so loosely now that I wouldn't be surprised if its value has somewhat diminished.

Regardless, I enjoyed the numerous stories which illustrated his points. Whether I am able to translate Klein's Triple Model into insights is another matter. 

One of my favourite lines in the book is "Teaching depends on what other people think, not what you think." (On the topic of helping others see insights.)

Overall, an enjoyable, (rather) light read.
