This book is meant as a bridge between physicists, chemists and engineers. It has been written on the basis of many years of teaching at the Chemical Engineering School, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Trondheim, Norway. This new second edition has been revised in order to put more emphasis on the use of irreversible thermodynamics as a tool for development of sustainable chemical and mechanical processes in the industry.
