This book discusses the significance of women disciples of Jesus such as Mary Magdalene, Salome, Martha and Mary, and Mary, the mother of Jesus in Christian Gnostic and anti-Gnostic sources. In the course of this investigation the concepts of feminity and masculinity are considered and their importance in these sources becomes apparent.
