I'd started reading other translations (the first couple pages) but none seemed entirely convincing. Then I opened this and it BLEW MY MIND. The way Armitage was able to maintain the allitterative properties of the original poetic diction is almost every line, while not straying from the original sense, is AMAZING. I truly love that this provides the original right next to the translation, too. All around a GEM.
And oh, yeah, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight is definitely engrossing.
